My Experiences:

Well, despite a dip in available vacation funds, I'm finally planning another trip.  Actually, the boyfriend is paying, I'm doing the planning!  Gotta love that deal!

I was given a sky diving gift certificate for Christmas and the jump location is in Las Vegas.  So, no brainer - we're going to Las Vegas!!  We picked the dates and I got to the planning (my favorite activity)!

Start out with a simple search of airfares heading across the country from NJ.  Whew - those were some big numbers!  Then I remember the roaming Gnome!!!!!!  I love that guy!!  So, travelocity.com here I come.  Did my search and then compared with Orbitz, Expedia, discount Las Vegas, booking on my own and my local travel agent.  Travelocity beat them all by at least $200 and we included car rental!!

Mind you I picked a fairly inexpensive hotel that I knew would still be somewhat quality, but even their other high-end hotel options beat the other sites.  I don't know how they do it, but be sure to try Travelocity when researching prices.  The ease of use of their site is great too - you can add several other options to your package - even a $199 wedding service (I asked the BF if he wanted that and I didn't get an answer - LOL).  And remember go to through Upromise (see my Upromise review) and get 2% back towards college savings!

My total for 3 nights and 3 days, deluxe room Planet Hollywood Casino (so-so), breakfast included, non-stop air from NJ to LV, full size car rental for length of stay.  Drum roll please...... $1197 for two travelers.  Not super cheap, but again, Travelocity beat all others (including booking on my own and I've been doing this for my executives for 10 years plus).  Some plans were as low as $800 for two, but the hotels/casinos looked a little, well, rentable by the hour!  Others were just not in the location we wanted.

  13. I'll have to try travelocity.com. I've not found great prices to LasVegas on any sites so maybe this time I will. Thanks for the review.
