fanny pack for kids

Me and a friend bought these fanny backs for our 6 year old boys to take to Disney.  The theory was that they could hold their own water, snacks, sunglasses, etc. These even came with their own water bottles and two separate pouches to carry things in.  They looked very durable and were bright colors that the kids liked.   Sounds good right?

So the first day we get up and put them on, and they're too big.  Way too big!  We had to tighten them as far as they would go, then put two big knots in them to make them fit.  ONce they were on, we realized that they were huge!  Even with nothing in them they looked like they were full of stuff.  With that done we were on our way.

They worked great for the first half of the day but then they got heavy and they were bulky, and they were just getting in the way.  Needless to say, they were left at the hotel after that.  I think they might work well for an older child maybe 10 or 11, but they are just too big and bulky for a 6 year old.

  1. Thanks for your honest review about this product. I might need to check and see if I can find one of these for my oldest son. He will be 10 when we go to Disney later this year. I voted for you!!!

  2. Good to know. My son carries a fanny pack with him EVERYWHERE...with his epi pen, benedryl, and inhailer...so we just shove a couple smaller snacks in it and a small juice:0) This one sounds way to large though:0)

  3. Sorry they did not work out for you. I always wish my 6 year old would carry something when we are at Disney but that never happens.

  8. Easy to Use Simply press flash or your switch hook to get a dial tone. Dial the third party. After they pick up you press flash or your switch hook again - and you're on a 3-Way call.

  10. Sounds like something that is a good idea in theory but not in real life! Maybe small backpacks would work better? Good review, though!

  11. Sorry it didn't work quite the way it was suppose to

    Mom2One on April 05, 2008 16:54
  12. This sounds like a great idea, but I was thinking that your review would end up with you wearing this fanny pack instead! I don't think most little ones want to be weighted down with fanny packs or backpacks while at Disney. Most times all those things end up in the stroller or mom's bag. I could see this working for an older child. Great review and good information for those wanting to purchase something to carry snacks and water around at any theme park!

  13. I was just wondering the same , if my son would wear it. I hope he would, it would save me the hassel of carrying everyones stuff.

  14. i used to wear a similar thing when i was young...i wear one now and it's out of style probably haha

  15. Nice review sounds like a great product for older kids if they are that bulky I would be afraid of them getting caught on something while you are getting on or off the rides. (voted)

  16. Fanny packs are great! There are some that are made for the younger set, however before purchasing I would make sure that the clips are strong and does not have a quick release Velcro strap if anything valuable is going to be in it or the pack may quickly disappear.

    Bosoxy on April 07, 2008 17:58
  17. I don't see fanny packs to much any more. My mother-in-law loves them though. Voted.

  18. nice review!... I like fanny packs!

  19. maybe you can use them when your child gets a little older. Fanny packs are nice to have but sometimes even for adults they are a pain to carry around.

  20. Sounds like a great idea, would be nice if they made them in different sizes. Thanks for sharing and giving an honest opinion! Voted

  21. You would think if it was a fanny pack tailored for a kid it would fit a kid! That's crazy that you had to go so far as to tie two knots in the darn thing! I would have probably left it at the hotel too. Although that was a good idea you had, to make the kids carry their own stuff. I know I wouldn't want to carry it and then they would definitely appreciate "mommy will you carry this" a little bit more! :o) voted

    crunkyjens on April 09, 2008 02:59
  22. I would think if it is made for kids then they should fit kids. Maybe when you child is a tad older it wouid fit better

    Mom2One on April 09, 2008 08:37
  23. Disney is the only place I've ever worn a fanny pack. Too bad that these didn't fit the boys, it was a good try. Who wants to carry around a lot of stuff all day. I hope your guys had fun with Mickey and I sent you a vote.

    Alice on April 09, 2008 20:47
  24. Aw too bad they didnt fit Im sure they wouldve enjoyed them even better. I dont think I have ever worn a fanny pack but i see a lotd of people wearing them, they seem to come in handy! voted

  25. Why would they make them so big if they were intended forkids? Go figure! Sorry it didn't work out better for you. Thanks for the info.

    NayNay on April 09, 2008 22:34
  26. We had a really hard time finding appropriately sized fanny packs when our kids were that age also. I'm sorry these didn't work out for you but thank you for sharing your experience!

    vsimeone on April 10, 2008 09:03
  27. Hopefully you can store these some place and bring them out again when your child is bigger? How disappointing!

  28. i love to have the kids wear them for trips!

    OlinFroid on April 10, 2008 13:52
  29. Aww, so sorry these didn't work for you. Sounds like they were a lot of trouble. I agree that if it is made for a kid, it should fit a kid, or at least be THAT adjustable. These are a great idea for trips like that though so hopefully you can find one that will work better for you all. Great information!

    Jessicanicole18 on April 12, 2008 13:14
  30. Every time I buy stuff like that thinking it will work great it ends up being a total failure. At least you tried! I agree it would probably work quite well with older children though.

    lena_mae1983 on April 14, 2008 08:04
  31. Too bad that didn't work out for you. At least you have them for later when they grow into them. There is so much walking involved at disney it was a great idea. Thanks for the review, voted.

    ANGELSFAE on April 14, 2008 21:03
  32. I was wondering if kids would want to carry one of these and like some other posters said wondered if mom would end up with them. Too bad it didn't work out. Thats what happens to me most of the time...get a great product but end up not using it because it gets in the way or too much hassle.

    jeifer on April 15, 2008 11:06
  33. Wow, thanks for the honest review. I appreciate it.

    tinkerbell on April 15, 2008 11:32
  34. Sounds like it was a good idea that just didn't work out. I'm sure you could find a nice replacement in any of the Disney stores. ;-)

  35. Unfortunately kids don't want to wear these

  37. Great review. I voted. I used to wear fanny packs when I was little on my school field trips, I loved them when I was younger. They definitely helped me keep my stuff together and I didn't lose anything.

  38. Great review...nice to know. It may have worked better for the adults!

  39. I would have thought that these would come in different sizes!! I was thinking the same thing as Tink wrote-that you & your friend would have been the ones wearing the fanny packs!!!!!!!!
