My Experiences:

My husband and I had our wedding cake made from Wixies Bakery in Toledo, OH. We were for the most part happy with it, but there were some issues we had with the cake once it arrived.

I have eaten Wixies Bakery stuff for many years and have always loved it. From donuts to fritters, their stuff was always the best. So it came with no hesitation that our cake would come from there. Their prices are good, just a bit lower than other bakeries in the area.

The cake designer sat down with us to figure out exactly what we wanted. I thought we had it all worked out, but when the cake arrived at the reception, they did not do what we had talked about. They were supposed to put 3 separate cakes on 3 differing levels of tiers. Our cake topper was supposed to go on the highest cake. We had some artificial flowers we asked to be put on it and they did not do that either. All they did was drop off the cake and tiers and said they didn't do the assembly...my mom had to put it together and decorate it.

The flavor of the cakes were awesome, just like everything else at the bakery. We had about 100 people at the reception, and 2 cakes fed them all. We got to take the top one home in its whole. On our first anniversary we ate the last 2 pieces of our cake. Even after being frozen for a year, it was so good!

I would recommend Wixies for wedding cakes, but make sure you have EVERY detail worked out before it gets delivered.

    1. Yes, they are only in Toledo, Ohio. I believe it's just a little family business still. If you're ever in Ohio I'll meet you there! ;-)

  26. That is very interesting to hear that you had to assemble your own wedding cake?! I would think that would be included with the deal. I love the idea of freezing part of the cake and eating it on your first anniversary, glad to hear yours was still yummy!! :o)
