Aquaflex Paddles

Share and Enjoy:

Aquatic therapy is a great tool for strength training, especially for those with lower-level endurance or strength levels. The strengthening is usually provdied by the water resistance, but if you add in exercise tools, you can make it even more challenging.

The Aquaflex resistance paddles are used to provide the exerciser with a flat, resistant surface that flows through the water while still producing drag. The paddles are used often in rehabilitation aquactic therapy sessions, and I have found them to be very useful for people that are lower level but still need a little extra resistance to strenghten.

The best part of the paddle is the ease of use. Just hold and drag, and they can be used for push/pull, PNF patterns or other rehab exercises. They are light and easy to grip injt he water, making them ideal for any size patient or any age.

The drawback for these is simple-they are expensive. The average person would not want to spend the money, but if your health club or rehab facility provides them I recommend using them.

  2. How much are they, and do you need to use this with a boat? Probably so, I'm not sure how else they would work.

  5. How hard are they on patients with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis? I know water exercising is great because it is non weight bearing. But I can't picture someone with severe joint pain being able to use these comfortably.
