After my 5 year old cell phone decided to never turn on again, I set out for my neighborhood Sprint store. I spotted this cherry red phone in the display case. I like shopping in the stores rather than online because you can actually pick up the phones and try out some of the features. I really wanted something basic in a cell phone. I don't do texting or use the internet on my cell phone. I did have a request that my new phone have a speakerphone on it as well as a camera.
This Samsung Cell Phone, model M300, was just what I wanted. It is a speakerphone and it has a camera. I thought the speakerphone was a feature that I really wanted, that is until I tried it on my new phone. I don't think that the speakers, or maybe it's the volume controls, are set correctly. I have the volume all the way up to the 8 level and I can barely hear the caller when I use this feature.
The camera...well, it leaves alot to be desired. I can not take a picture without it being blurry. My old camera was also a Samsung and it took crisp, clear photos. This is a feature of the phone I probably will never use again. Very disappointing.
The best features of my cell phone are:
Black keyboard ~ very easy to read in daylight or dark
Flip phone ~ no accidentally dialed numbers
Light weight ~ 3 oz.
Easy to use menu
Long lasting battery ~ 3 hours
External display ~ Time/Date/Day
Voice Kit ~ Voice Command and Voice Memo
Driver's Mode ~ Listen to the caller's name instead of the ringer
Preloaded ringtones
Free Demo Games ~ Tetris, Midnight Bowling, Ms Pac-man, Brain Juice World Series of Poker
Ear Mic port
Bluetooth Compatible
Besides the speakerphone and the camera issues, there are a couple of attached, plastic covers to ports that seem to be a bad design. The tiny covers that protect the port for the headset and the charger are very flimsy. They flip open and swing to the side allowing access to the ports. The salesman told me that most people just tear those off because they are in the way. It will probably break off anyway with a few uses.
The cost of the phone was $70.00, with a $50.00 mail in rebate, making the end cost of the phone only $20.00! A great price for a basic phone. I just wish the two features I wanted the most worked better.
Did you know that all revenue a review earns monthly is split with the voters that voted for that review each month?

Driver's mode sounds interesting!
What a cute phone-I see the picture of Tink on it!
Of course there is a picture of Tink :) I took a picture of my poster and uploaded it to the screen !
this phone looks really cute, at least that should count for something good. sorry to hear that the speaker and the camera doesn't work as great :(
Love the red!
I love that phone! Great review!
Thanks for the info. I can see that this would not be the phone for me.
its not the way your phone is set... its the way the phone was made. I used to have this same phone and had that same problem. Thanks for the review. I voted!
Sorry to hear it didn't all work out for you. Nice review, though.
Red would be a fun color! Great review.
I love the fact that it is red! And I really like the fact that you can listen to the callers name and not the ring. Thanks for sharing a great review.
thanks for review was thinking of getting a friend one of these, but your review help me think ...I goto to get one with a good camera
That's an awesome colour!
wow, and btw what do u mean by $20 after rebate?
Fantastic review!
Excellent review!
I love the color!
It must have a smaller pixel count which may be why the camera doesn't work well. I love red and the price is right. I'd buy this one, but would want a better functioning camera on it.
one of my friends has one like that and he says it works great, but there were somethings wrong with it, that he did not agree on I do not remember what it was though, well besides that its a great one to use.
