Reservation Road

Reservation Road is directed by Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) and stars Joaquin Phoenix (also in Hotel Rwanda), Jennifer Connelly, Mark Ruffalo, and Mira Sorvino. This story is about a couple named Ethan (Phoenix) and Grace (Connelly). They are out one night with their two children when on the way home their son is hit and killed by Dwight (Ruffalo) who is returning home with his son from a ballgame. Ethan and Grace, already shocked by their son’s death, watch as their lives unravel further by Ethan’s need for justice. Dwight, who panicked and fled the scene, is trying to decide whether to come forward are not. Dwight watches as Ethan comes unraveled as they head for a confrontation. This is a good movie but probably one you would expect to see on television more so than on the big screen. Most actors and actresses do a fair job but Phoenix outshines them in this movie. I think making it another twenty or thirty minutes longer to allow the suspense to build and play out would have helped the movie.
