My Husbands truck is a Dodge Ram 1500 and I personally think it is a big pile of wasted gas. He gets the worst gas milage, 9 miles to a gallon. Yes, granted that he does have alot of room for our kids to ride in the back because it is a quad cab, but is the money worth it. We spend about $600.00 a month in gas for him to drive to work; which is only 12 miles away. I have been trying to convince him to sell his truck, but he keeps telling me that we own a house so we have to keep the truck. I do not see why. My Volvo has just as much space in the back as his truck bed. The looks of the truck is nice and there is lots of room in the back for car seats, but I am having a hard time being excited about the gas prices we are paying her in Oregon. We have not had any maintance problems (knock on wood) so the truck is reliable which is a plus.
I used to love these big Dodge trucks (why dodge it, if you can RAM it? lol) -I'm a Dodge girl! But with gas prices nowadays, the love of the big trucks has gone away - replaced with the love of some $$.
I think that I would research mileage on other vehicles that he would find interesting... and then also check out your local car rental agencies and see if they have pick ups and the cost. While it is good to have a truck when something needs to be moved, now a days a pick up or van can be rented for the weekend at a much more affordable rate than what your family is paying for the monthly gas bill. Perhaps if it was all laid out in front of him he would think differently? There is a lot that could be done with $600 a month, $7,200 a year.... Good luck!
Sometimes a truck would be nice for runs to the dump and moving things, but I keep telling my husband to check on how much it would cost to rent a pickup for a day. I've seen signs saying just $19.99! Even if it's $50.00 a day or weekend, it would be worth while to get the clean up done!
I hear you about the gas.
Wow on the gas... Nowadays no one can afford that!! Good Review!!

Big Honken! Love it! I just sold an old Dodge that was a gas guzzler as well :(
I would be broke if my gas payments were that high! I'd probably have to live in the truck. Hope he decides to sell it.
Thats men for you, my husbands the same. truck can be usefull but that is way to much gas.
We have a dodge truck and the gas prices are killing us,but we'll keep it.

Very nice review! ;) Thanks.
great review! Thanks
I really wish American manufacturers would start producing better quality vehicles... they really need to catch up to Honda & Toyota standards.
