Grand Oasis Punta Cana

My Experiences:
The Grand Oasis PUnta Cana is located in the Dominican Republic. A new place for us to visit and we were very excited.
The lobby and grounds of this hotel were amazing! However, once we got to the room I was very disappointed. It was very run down and a couple of things were broken (like the lock on the door). Not to mention the fact that it stayed 80 degrees in the room. However, we did have an ocean view and we were literally 8 steps from the beach.
Once we walked out on to the beach, all thoughts of the room disappeared. I love to travel, and I love to be on the beach, but I have never seen a beach like this. We will definitely go back to Punta Cana for that reason alone.
We tried a couple of different restaurants and the food was okay. The buffet was very bland but we found the omelets at breakfast and the pasta bar at dinner and those were great. There was a beachside grill with hamburgers and hotdogs. The hamburgers were okay, stay away from the hot dogs. WE also ate at the Italian restaurant that was amazing and the Tex Mex grill where I had the hot wings and ribs. They didn't taste like what they would here, but you have to remember that you're in another country.
There was entertainment all day long and well into the night. We really enjoyed the karaoke bar. A lot of songs in Spanish but it was still fun to watch. There was also a casino on property that we visited. I lost my money at the slots but my husband won $40 at blackjack.
It is a family resort but there was an adult pool where we spent a lot of time and met some great people. We had an amazing bartender named Nicholas who made sure we were never thirsty, and that we didn't have to get out of the pool to get a drink. The pool bar was at the other, more crowded pool.
Overall it was a great experience and the hotel was worth the money we spent. I would recommend it if you're looking for a beach vacation without spending a fortune.
