Clotrimazole Betamethasone Lotion

This lotion was prescribed to me by my doctor when a scratch on my hand had obviously gotten infected and developed persistent redness. In fact, the scratch itself had healed up, but the red spot would not go away. I tried different over-the-counter disinfecting and antibacterial remedies, but none of them helped. I figured it was time to go see the doctor, and the doctor prescribed me this.

The lotion is the generic version of Lotrisone Lotion. Despite that, it was quite expensive, I was charged something like $137 for two 30 ml bottles. (I have no idea why the doctor had prescribed two - the red spot was not at all large, and I have not even used up one bottle). The lotion was to be applied topically, twice a day. I did that faithfully, and the red spot was gone in a little over a week. In the process, I did not experience any burning, itching, of any other discomfort.

This medication worked very well, but I feel that I purchased far more than I needed and paid too much.

  1. That seems very expensive, but I'm glad the red spot is all gone. Thank you for sharing your information. Good review.

  2. That's ridiculous to have paid that much for a generic lotion. Most insurance covers this for nothing to 5 co-pays.
