Hybrid cars
It is a pity that only a few companies like the ford and honda have turned out hybrid cars.
The hybrid cars which i am describing refer to the petrol, diesel variety plus electric motor. In the future, the petrol and diesel cars can be substituted by cars using methanol or ethanol. But ethanol and other bio fuels cannot be produced in mass quantity. The amount of petrol and diesel avaiable in the world today is finite. There is no way of regenerating the burnt out fuel .
The only factors which do not use electric motors are the automobile and aviation sectors.
It may be because the mechanical and automobile engineers are not aware of the capabilities of high voltage engineering or electrical engineering.
What mechanical engineers do not know are -
1) Types of electric motors available and the amount of starting torques they can generate.
2) AC, DC converters and inverters.
3) SCR, DIAC, TRIAC, IGBT, and so on. These are high voltage rectifiers.
4) Driving cars and vans using electric motors will be cumbersome as the accelerating effects will not be as high as the fuel driven cars. As a result the flow on the roads will be slow and a lot of accidents and car repairs will occur. So the drivers will have to get used to driving slowly while using electric cars.
