Eragon, the Audio Book

Share and Enjoy:

Considering that the author of Eragon was just fifteen years old when he wrote it, it is a great story! If you like fantasy, magic, and dragons, you will love this book!

Eragon is a young boy (also fifteen years old) who is scratching out a living on their small farm together with his Uncle and cousin. The story begins with Eragon hunting in "The Spine", an area of the mountainous countyside that is dreaded by most of the townspeople because of the magical things that have occurred there. Though Eragon has always felt comfortable there, and usually finds game to feed his family, today he has no luck hunting, but finds something altogether unusual:  a beautiful blue, smooth stone the likes of which he has never seen before. He takes it home, hoping to sell it to the local butcher for meat. When the butcher finds out where he found it, however, he wants nothing to do with it. As it turns out, it is a good thing that Eragon gets to keep the stone which after all is not a stone, but an egg! A dragon's egg!

This is how it happens that Eragon becomes one of the legendary dragon riders that he himself has always heard stories about and has many adventures and close calls with his beautiful blue dragon, Saphirra.

Christopher Paolini has a great future in writing. I found his first attempt entertaining and anxiously awaited the next book in the series, Eldest. (Review to follow)
