Kovenex Kitchen Fire Blanket
Being a firefighter, I know what fire can do. It destroys homes and lives in a matter of minutes. A small fire can get out of hand in a hurry. I came across a new product that I think every household should have. It is a simple concept. It's a fire blanket. Fire blankets have been around for a long time, but the old ones were made out of wool and simply did not hold up. The one I am reviewing is a kitchen fire blanket. It is made by Waubridge Specialty Fabrics LLC. Their website is kovenex.com and I purchased our blankets through chiefsupply.com.
The technology is amazing. Imagine fighting fire with fabric. Fire extinguishers are great, but they can lose their charge and not work properly. They can be hard to operate for young children and the elderly. Anyone can use a fire blanket. They smother out the fire. The fabric doesn't burn or melt and it's washable and reusable. It doesn't expire. The kitchen sized blanket is designed for a stovetop fire or other small fire. I have done a controlled test with a real fire to satisfy my curiosity about this product and I was amazed. While this is something that most households will never need to use, they all should have one. I Our department has donated over 300 of them to households in our area.

My dad was a volunteer firefighter and he also said these were great. Now that I have a baby I am starting to look at more safety items and I will get one of these soon. You can never be too careful! Thanks for the review and information. Voted =o) Stay safe!!
I am going to check into getting this blanket for my children. They share an apartment and I get the chills thinking about them cooking. I am terrified they will start a fire.
