My Experiences:

If you think it easy buying clothes for boys, then I want to know your inside secret. Both of my sons always want clothes that cost more than my own. They want to have the same clothes, they say their friends are wearing. I am afraid to walk into the mall with them.

The best my wife and I can do at times, is to narrow down the selection and buy them copies of the designer brands.

I love some a few of the big box retail stores, for having the less expensive lines that parents can choose from.

We ran into a few Boy's knit, pullover tops, that our sons gave us their approval on. The Route 66 brand has a red trunk, with dark grey sleeves and a couple of strips on them. My oldest boy said, this is what some of his friends are wearing. Thank God.

Matt, our youngest boy, liked it too, so we found a size for him. So what if they want to look like twins. The quality was good and the price was right. We got home and they both put on their new pullovers. The shirts looked like a million on them.

A few days later, my oldest son's only complaint was, the dryer shrunk his new shirt. Wow, it sure did. Then something occured to me. I looked around the next load in the dryer and found his shirt, instead of his younger brother's. Since then, Jan marked the inside label. She also does this with their underwear and T shirts and socks and.. most of their clothes.
