Riding Outside The Lines By freesoma on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Joe Kurmaskie's second book, Riding Outside the Lines, follows his bicycle adventures through the US and across the globe in a writing style very similar to his first book, Metal Cowboy. I picked this book up after reading Metal Cowboy, eager to read more about Joe's travels on his bicycle.

This book focuses more on foreign travel, which is great because a lot of the people he meets are very unique and interesting. I especially loved reading about his ride through Australia with his two companions that he met on the road. The Ireland section is also great, but the entire book is wonderful just like the first book.

I haven't been able to find many well-written bicycle travel books, so Kurmaskie is one of the go-to authors on the subject. The man has a great humor and always seems to find himself in the craziest situations. Anyone interested in travel, especially foreign travel and bicycle touring, should pick this one up.
