Ripley's Aquarium Of The Smokies By Dawn69 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies is located at 88 River Road, Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This is a central location on the water that is just lovely to look at and easy to get to. The Aquarium is open year round. They open at 9 am and close at 9 pm Sunday through Thursday as well as Friday and Saturday from 9 to 11. The cost is a little much but well worth it. Adult tickets cost $22.29, kids from 6-11 are $12.25, kids from 2-5 are $5.56 and kids younger than two are free with adult. When you enter the Aquarium you will be surprised at how big the inside is. You will follow the corridors around to the many exhibits. You will see all types of see life as well as coral and exotic plants. What makes this Aquarium so different is its 340 long glidepath. This is a movable floor that takes you under and around the aquarium. It will look like you are inside the tank with the fish. You will see the great sharks up close and personal at least it will seam that way. They also have dive shows in this area to make it even more exciting. They also have a place where you can buy food. You can sit and enjoy your food while watching fish or your children playing in the discovery room. There are also special exhibits through out the year. When my family went to the Aquarium they were showing exhibits on Pirates. They talked about the different Pirate ships and their captains as well. It was a very exciting exhibits. This trip to the Aquarium too us the better part of a day to see and do everything. I would recommend this Aquarium to all with and without children. You can find more information at their site Ripley's Aquarium.

Thanks for the information. I have been to Gatlingurg several times but have not visited the Aquarium yet. Good to hear from someone who has. I intend on going sometime soon.

This is one of my favorite aquariums. It is very well laid out and has a great selection of displays. Even though I live in Georgia and we have the worlds largest aquarium right here, I like this one better.

My husband & I passed this by on our trips to Tennessee thinking it was more for kids. I'm sure my kids will love it & will make this on our to do list next trip there.
