Ripley's Believe it Or Not
By Darrylmcd onOur youngest son has bought one of these each year at the schools book fair by Scholastic Books. This book is better than the television show, it has 139 pages full of unique and entertaining pictures of people and pets breaking world records for all of 2008. From fabulous feats, to most tattooed, most straws held in a mouth and more. Warning folks, do not try this at home! I like the feature of not only displaying the current world records but records that are just now being broke from 1933, 1934 and so on. This book even reflects on its founder, Robert Ripley. Did you know that he started out as a cartoonist for the New York Globe? I didn't either, ha! Yes, in fact his cartoon was entitled " Believe It or Not !" He was fascinated by the weird and bizarre and traveled the world to record these facts. This book is something that not only my son, but I look forward to each year.

* I like the feature of not only displaying the current world records but records that are just now being broke from 1933, 1934 and so on. * Great fact to know. I was wondering how these would differ from Guinness and you told me. Excellent.
I loved the show and wish it would be put back on the air!
