Rocky Horror Picture Show By Tifffany on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Rocky Horror Picture Show tells the story of a young couple who unwittingly wander into a strange mansion full of aliens. Tim Curry plays the lead, a transvestite from the planet of Transylvania. The young couple are Brad (played by Barry Bostwick) and Janet (played by Susan Sarandon), who have just the right amount of innocence at the beginning of the film. When they end up lost on a waterlogged road, they wander into the alien household where the strangeness begins. This is loosely based on the story of Frankenstein, as Tim Curry's character has created Rocky Horror, his ultimate male. Meatloaf also makes an appearance.
I think this is a brilliantly done quirky film with tons of fun songs. The song and dance numbers make it infinitely rewatchable, and there are so many good scenes and good quotes that can be pulled from it. One of the extra features I enjoy is an audience participation prompt, where on screen clues guide you through things such as throwing toast when a characters calls to make a toast. Also enjoyable is the fact that you can watch either the British or American versions of the film, which differ slightly. Although this is an offbeat film, it is endearing and enjoyable.
