Romance By The Sea
By Candida Eittreim onMy husband and I often hopped in the car and drove up the Pacific Coast highway. It is a beautiful and scenic drive along California's spectacular coastline. Late Fall/early winter are wonderful cures for the restlessness that can drive a person nuts unless they can just get up and go. The whales are migrating down to Baja and the stormy wind whipped surf just sings in your soul.
One stormy day we found ourselves in Anchor Bay, tired after walking along wind swept beaches, we just wanted to get warm and relax. We pulled into the Breakers Inn. The manager, taking one look at our tired faces got his keys and took us directly to our rooms. WOW! It was so utterly perfect, we were speechless. Opening our door, we were greeted by a gorgeous view directly overlooking the ocean. A lovely fireplace was stacked with firewood, which he lit immediately. Uncorking a bottle of good Sonoma Valley wine, he quietly closed the door and left us to savor the moment.
The bathroom had an enormous jacuzzi tub, which we filled with hot water, adding a generous scoop of our complimentary bath salts. Grabbing our wine, we climbed in and enjoyed a long blissful soak. After a short nap in the king sized bed, we got dressed and strolled over to the Ocean Song restaurant for a delicious dinner. The romantic atmosphere of the Breakers Inn was working its heady magic as we strolled along the quiet streets.
After dinner, we got comfortable and went outdoors to sit on our deck and watch the stars come out. This is such a lovely place to be. Their guest books reflect the love and enjoyment people all over the world have experienced at Breakers Inn. I can see why. This is a totally serene and restful place, where lovers can take time to talk about things that matter and reconnect with one another, all in an atmosphere of seclusion and comfort. This is truly a California treasure. It is difficult to imagine staying angry or stressed when you're sitting wrapped up warmly out on your deck, with the dancing firelight playing against the windows.
The Breakers Inn offers a continental breakfast in the lobby or you can walk a few short steps over to the Ocean Song or up the road to Redwood Grill and enjoy a superb breakfast or brunch. Coffee and tea, along with a full sized coffeemaker come with your room. You can also order in and just savor the moment. We stayed in Sweden, and the rate was$295.00 a night for an ocean front room with a king sized bed. We came for an overnight and ended up spending 4 lovely days. Visiting the Northern California coast? Looking for a quiet romatic place by the sea? Come visit the Breakers Inn, it is simply unforgettable.

Sounds awesome! I'll have to keep this in mind for an anniversary trip.
We took a trip along the California coast about 5 years ago, it was beautiful!

What a wonderful, spontaneous interlude. I want to plan a surprise anniversary trip for my husband. I will have to check out the Breakers Inn.
