Rome Italy By Cloudage By cloudage on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
When I went to Rome for the first time I was very excited about what to expect. I have to admit that I travelled there with very high hopes, and Rome did not fail me!
I stayed at a very nice hotel at Via Veneto, a street five minutes away from the Spanish Steps. The hotel accommodated my every need, and was helpful in all imaginable ways.
When I left the hotel in the morning it was a 20 minute walk to Colosseum, and to be able to walk around in a city with brand new buildings and commodities and then find yourself in the middle of ancient ruins was just a dream. I could turn around and there would be something from a completely different time period. The history was palpable, and it was as being taken back in time.
The art and culture that I got to witness at museums and theaters was yet another amazing experience. The Italians were friendly and forthcoming, and very easy to interact with.
The only thing that dissapointed me a little bit was the food. I was expecting great gastronomic experiences, but to be honest the pizza at Domino's is better. The traffic was crazy, and watch out for speeding cab drivers.
Nevertheless, I would not hesitate for one second to reccomend Rome to any one of my closest friends. It was truly a remarkable spot for a vacation.
