Roomba Red, Batteries Don't Last By 999frights on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Roomba Red is a robot that vacuums your house. I like the fact that I can place it in the center of my room, hit a button, and it vacuums. It does a pretty good job of picking things up off the floor. My biggest complaint is that this is not very effective on hardwood floors. We tried it on our hardwoods and it scratched them up.

The first few times we ran the Roomba, we liked to watch it. We also named him Speedy. It will bump into things and turn itself around. It came with a virtual wall, which is great because our kitchen and family room are basically connected. The Roomba turns around right where the kitchen starts. He can get stuck and he will go under your furniture. If you have any small items under your furniture, you'll need to pick them up, or block the furniture.

Along with scratching the hardwood floors, my other complaint is the battery life. If you don't keep it plugged in, the battery dies. So we can't just let it sit and decide to use it on a spur of the moment. It has to be plugged in to keep the charge. Once we use it, it will only last for 1 room, then we have to charge it again.

It takes a long time for it to clean one room and senes when it is done. The length of time does not bother me since I put it in a room I'm not using and it doesn't require me to do anything. It is very easy to clean.
