Rosenthal African Art Mug

My dad and his new wife went on a forty day cruise to Africa in April 2008. While there, my dad brought back a signature mug made by Rosenthal studio line. This is a city cup number 37 designed by Helana Ladeiro. I have never seen such beautiful artwork as this peice in my life. I will always cherish this gift from my father as I know a person can not get something like this unless they are lucky enough to travel to Africa.
According to the brochure that came with this mug, this is from their distinctive commemoritive collection. He received tis mug on his cruise line Holland America and it comes in a black box that outlines the company and designer. One the mug, there is a picture of the city of Lissabon.
If you ever have the opportunity to go over to Africa, then I reccomend you purchase one of these for you collection. At least I honestly can say that I have something that not every person is lucky to get. This was a great Christmas gift from someone that I truly respect!
I have friends who live in Africa that were here over the holidays - and another friend from Africa who lives here - I absolutely love the artwork from this area not to mention the incredibly rich history that I've been able to learn about the past few years. I'm really looking forward to a trip there soon as my friend wants to commission me to write a book about his family's history and insists I must visit to understand ;). I'll definitely be on the look out for works like the gift you received. Thanks for the info - this is gorgeous!
