My wife and I went on a Royal Caribbean 14-day Mediterranean cruise in April-May 2007. We booked the cruise online through the Royal Caribbean website. It was easy to use and we had no problems. We booked our airline flight separate. The departure port was Barcelon, Spain. We flew in 1 day early so that we could enjoy the city before leaving.

Barcelona is the major Departure port for Mediterreanian cruises. It was very easy to get around the city. They have a very good public transportation system. We use the public bus to get around most places. We also used the subway and the cabs. We took a cab ride from our hotel to the port.

We stayed in an interior room on the 2nd floor of the ship. The room was very small, but similar to other cruises we have been on. We chose the interior room because it fit our budget.

The service on the ship was excellent. Our stateroom attendant was friendly and did an good job helping us with any thing we needed. Our dinning room waiter was also very friendly and did a good job waiting on us.

Destinations: Villefrance, France near Canns and Monaco; Livorno, Italy near Florence and Pisa; Venice, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Naples, Italy near the Isle of Capri and Pompeii; and last but not least Civitavecchia, Italy which ports near Rome.

I definitly recommend reviewing and booking shore excursions before leaving. This guarantees you get the ones you want.
