Rules By C. Lord, Great Book On Autism By ryanpsbride on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

There are very few books that really give the reader an idea of what it is like to live with and care for a person with Autism. I selected this book to read with my 6th grade class as one of their class book club selections for the school year. The book is excellent in the way it presents Catherine's life and her brother David's life, as they live with his Autism. Catherine is just like any other middle school aged girl, she wants to have friends and fit it in with other kids. For Catherine having a brother who is different sometimes makes life more difficult. This is a wonderful book for teaching kids empathy and respect for people who are different then us. It is a quick easy read with a large print and it comes in at just under 200 pages. So, next time your in the book store consider picking up Rules by Cynitha Lord for yourself or your middle school aged student.
