Run, don't walk away from this Geodome!
By Mia Blaisdell onWhen I first saw this I was looking for canopy style shade that was easy to put up and take down and very durable. So, when I saw this, I thought it was perfect. Plenty big enough for my needs very simple for two people to put up, and according to Coleman's claims it's "Windstrong system guarantees stability, even in very windy conditions. UVGuard protection fabrics provide excellent protection against the sun's damaging ultraviolet rays. Plus, a durable polyester water-resistant coating shields from rain. You'll be ready for any weather conditions." It was perfect and so I bought it, which turned out to be a big mistake. It was awesome first out of the canvas bag it came in and easy to assemble. It seemed plently roomy and had very secure tie downs and stakes. I thought I got a great deal!
Well I was so wrong. I had only used this twice over a couple years and both times, even after securely staking it, the wind caught it and took it right out of the ground. One of those times, tossing it across my yard, which resulted in one of the legs getting slightly bent. I was not happy with this but it wasn't damaged too badly and you could barely tell it got bent. So I continued to use it. So this very last time I took it out of it's bag to put it up, I found another alarming surprize. The material was almost like paper!. It began to pull apart in places and tear! As I draped the cover over the geo frame to put it up, my finger went right through the material at the corner edge, and I wasn't even exerting any real force, just typically setting it up! It's like the material is just deteriorating! The thing is though, that I store it well and keep it in it's own bag when not used. So there is not reason why it should be doing this! In fact, I wish the material for the canopy shade was made out of the same stuff it's storage bag is, that is bag is in excellent shape!
Well needless to say, I wasted my money on something that didn't even last through three set ups and definitely did not live up to it's claims. So bottom line everyone, if you need a great, durable, and easy to use cover /sun shade, this isn't the one!

Wow! Who would have thought that of a Coleman product? Too bad you had to be the one to find out.
Looks are deceiving; it sure is nice-looking in the photo!
Yeah I know what you mean, this is what it looks like new "out of the package", and it did look extremely nice... unfortunately it didn't last!
Yes, I agree because It actually is very easy to put up and had a great shape and size and I would have liked to have been able to use it more. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment!
I probably would have been deceived too - it looks sturdy and durable. Too bad there is actually no wind resistance, and the material is not strong, either... :(
Thanks Froggy for the advice! It's been a few years ago since I bought it, so I doubt Target would help. When I bought it from the local Target where I was living. It was a clearance item as part of the clearance to move it out as s seasonal and stock more current in season items. But, I can still contact Coleman , which isn't a bad idea!
That really is too bad, considering coleman is well known and usually have great products.
Very true, and I would have never expected otherwise. Thanks for stopping by and your comment!
Good warning to those out buying these kinds of products for the summer.
