Running With Scissors By mizdiz on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is a memoir by Augusten Burroughs. This was a shocking book. I read it quickly and did like it, but did not totally believe it. At times I was disgusted. Some people will not like this book because of its graphic details. Some of the book was funny and the author has a way with words and his descriptions. As I said, I did not totally believe this story. I believe it was based on his life, but perhaps some of the truth was stretched a bit or incorrectly recalled. I just can't believe that some of the bizarre going ons were possibly true. I have to wonder if everything he said about his surrogate family is true.

Would I recommend reading this? Possibly, if you can stand to read about feces and graphic recalls of sexual encounters.
