Russel Stover German Black Forest Truffle By Willow on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

As someone who likes truffle chocolate, I was rather surprised to find it sold in this form: instead of the traditional shape that is supposed to imitate the truffle mushroom, these are flat square pieces. "These are not truffles," I thought, but I still decided to buy them and see what they taste like.

Russel Stover German Black Forest Truffle comes in a paper bag with a beautiful picture of a castle and of one chocolate piece. The chocolate squares inside are not individually wrapped, and there are not very many of them, unfortunately. They dark chocolate coating and softer filling; together, it creates excellent truffle taste that I think any fan of chocolate truffles will recognize and love.

I would say the packaging, although neat, lacks a bit if you think of it as a gift item, so I rated it only 4 out of 5 for Special Occasion. Otherwise, it is great chocolate!
