Sabre Rules The Road! By cnt24 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My husband bought a 2007 Honda Shadow Sabre VT1100C2 at Cycle Rider, a local bike dealership. Of course, he really wanted a Harley, but who can afford one these days. He researched hundreds of motorcycles before he signed on the Sabre. He is so thrilled with his purchase; there is no stopping him now.
As you may know this bike is a cruiser. Cruisers are designed for bike runs, road trips, and just plain old fun. The Sabre is on the smaller side with an 1100cc V twin engine (larger V twins are in the 1800cc range). However, it outshines many other cruisers with its sleek look and lightweight, stylish design.
The Sabre can really get up and go on take off. Before you know it, you are going 80 MPH and must back off a little. The bike has plenty of acceleration at the top end as well. The ride is smooth and easy.
This motorcycle handles well going through turns. The smooth quick acceleration helps to keep the suspension loaded properly for easy turning and good tire grip.
The gas tank holds about 4.2 gallons, which is slightly small for a cruiser. We are getting about 35-40 miles per gallon. Therefore, longer road trips require more fuel stops. It works out good though; you get to stretch your legs on long runs.
The driver seat height is a little lower than some bikes, which works for me because I am short (5' 4"). I can comfortably hold the bike up while seated with my feet flat on the ground. The driver seat is comfortable to a point because it is saddle shaped and slopes to fit your rump.
The passenger seat is not the most comfortable seat in the world. It is rather narrow. We are going to upgrade the seat to a gel saddle with a wider passenger back.
One great feature of the Sabre is the lack of required maintenance. The bike is shaft drive so you do not need to worry about a chain. There is no scheduled valve adjustment since the valves are self-adjusting. Oil, gas, ride!
We really got a great deal on our Honda Shadow Sabre VT1100C2. Cycle Rider did a wonderful job with this sale. My husband is happy; so, I am happy.

Thanks Sharkey! It really is a great bike so it's easy to write about.
Well done, the bike looks great - I'll refer to this if hubby can ever find the time to do a little road cruising and finally gets himself a bike - it's been on the "to do" list for a number of years now :). Great write, thanks!
The smaller tank can be annoying but the bike looks great.
thanks and enjoy the ride
