Safeco Field
By Jan Mayrhofer on - Updated Oct 15, 2011Yippee, it's baseball time again! We love to go and root for our home team at Safeco Field.
Our stadium is quite unique, I think, because it has a retracting roof! That means open air baseball which is the best way to enjoy a game, in my opinion. But it also means no rained out games, which is equally cool. The stadium is never completely closed to the outdoors and you can see beautiful Puget Sound in the background from most seats. Another thing that just goes with Safeco Field is that you can hear the train's whistles echoing through the streets of downtown Seattle. If you ever catch an at-home Mariner's game on T.V, you will be able to hear what I mean. It sure would be better, though if you could visit in person.
The seats range in price from the cheapest in the outfield stadium seats, to the box seats, and everything in between.
Come to Seattle and enjoy some good old down home baseball at Safeco Field - maybe you'll catch a foul ball for a souvenir!
Update On Apr 14, 2010: We're sad because they've built a new road to go over the train tracks near the stadium, so now the trains aren't allowed to blow their whistles since there is no crossroads there. They were allowed to blow them for the last time night before last for opening day, but you won't here that nostalgic sound during the Seattle Mariner's games anymore! It's still a great stadium and we have high hopes for the new Mariner's season!

My guy and I would absolutely love to be able to just travel to all of the different baseball stadiums. It is something that we often talk about and hope to do once he retires. We both love baseball and just love to see the differences in all of the places that our Red Sox play ball...
A stadium with a retracting roof would be so cool. I've never been in one that's had one.
I'm seriously thinking of moving to Seattle, so this is one of the places I have listed on my must see's. I bet the view of the Sound is simply gorgeous.
Our baseball team was thinking about a retractable roof for their new stadium opening in a few years. Unfortunitely they cut out the retractable roof so now we will have to deal with possible rain out or SNOWed out game up here!
We have season tickets :-) Not that there is much to see lately!
I love going to baseball games. Hopefully one day I'll make it to this stadium!
Seeing the Puget Sound & watching a baseball game at the same time?! What a fabulous view!
Aren't the Mariners moving? I thought I heard that somewhere. Or was it the Sonics? Too old... can't remember! :-)
