Safes But Not Safe By Dom Sim on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
After the jewellery and documents are stolen at the bank deposit box, we decided to buy a safe to keep our important documents and left over jewellery at home by buying this safe.
Pros; It is fire proof and do comes with guarantee and warranty for that, so if the documents are lost in fire we can at least claim back RM 10,000. The sliding tray inside is great and makes it very versatile for storing our important and valuables things of all sizes.
Cons: To think and remember a good combination to open the safe is a chore for my aging mum. I should have bought a digital safe for her. The safe is heavy but still not heavy enough to prevent a strong man to tow it away!! The burglary protection system is redundant here since thieves these day are smart enough not to pry it open but just take the whole safe away and it also could give us false alarm when little kids try to pry it open.
Additional thoughts: Anyway it is still safer to keep all important valuables under our own watchful eyes rather than asking banks to look after them for us.
Sentry Fire safe Personal safe Purchased at: Office supplier Price: RM 700

Oh how sad thatyour jewelry & important documents were stolen at the BANK'S safe-I would not have expected that! I appreciate both your pros & cons & I hope the same thing won't happen to you again!
I have a Sentry, but mine is a lower end model. Yours sounds more sophisticated with the security alarm and everything. Maybe I should be worried about my little safe. Anyone could easily pick this small thing up and haul it out the door. I DO have it hidden in an unlikely spot where burglars wouldn't think to look.
I need a safe... So many models and prices to choose from... makes it hard to decide...
It is a good idea to protect your valuables in this way. Not 100% secure but much better than leaving them where they can be stolen or burnt.
What a terrible bank! Hope everything goes well for you from now on.
Oh wow! How awful for your documents and valuables to be stolen from the bank. I can understand why you would want a safe at home. Hope you and your mom can come up with a good combination to use.
This review reminded me of some thieves that chained up a bank atm machine to their truck and sped off down the highway, obviously they were caught being seen with a huge bank machine dragging at the back of their truck.
