The author of this book, Abbe Francois Trochu, tells of the true story of Bernadette Soubirous, an uneducated poor peasant girl who becomes known worldwide. Bernadette was born in 1844 in Lourdes,France.Bernadette did not seek fame or fortune. During her young life, she endured much suffering in trying to prove that she did indeed have eighteen apparitions of The Blessed Virgin Mary. At first, her own parents would not believe her, but she would not retract any of her statements regarding what she saw with her own eyes. There are several photographs of Bernadette in this book as a child and later as a nun. Miracles started to happen and Bernadette shunned any attention, but gave God all the credit. Bernadette Soubirous suffered poor health most of her young life and later died at the tender age of 35 in 1879. The Catholic Church canonized her as a saint. There are 390 pages filled with inspirational details of all the amazing facts concerning the life of Bernadette Soubirous. This book is very worthwhile reading. It helps build the reader's faith about what God can accomplish when a faithful soul trusts in Him completely. I am so very honored to own a First Class Relic of St. Bernadette's actual bone. It is just a tiny fragment of her bone but I understand it is very rare and I am thrilled to have a piece of this saint in my home.
