Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit By dsnygrl on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When we were getting ready to go on our cruise this past September I longed to go to the salon and get some waxing done. Unfortunately, I am a terribly cheap and it was way out of my budget. I had tried home waxing kits before and they were messy. First you had to smear on wax, then apply cotton strips and pull. Yuck!

Two weeks before the trip I was walking through the beauty aisle at Publix and sale signs on the Sally Hansen products caught my eye. One of them was the hair remover wax strip kit. It was on sale for $3.50 so I thought why not and gave it a try.

The kit comes with 34 plastic double sided strips that already have the wax on them. They are pre cut into sizes for underarms, legs and body parts. If you need a smaller size or shape, you can easily cut them to the size you need. The directions say to warm the strips in your hands by gently rubbing them, separate the double sided strips, press on and pull off. Well my first advice is to get someone to help you with this. It works even better if they are mad at you at the time this way they will pull quickly without hesitating and not worry about how much it hurts. I enlisted my husband because he loves to watch me scream.

We started with the underarms and warmed it according to the directions. It went on ok but when he pull it off, the wax was still on the strip along with only a few hairs. He tried it again and again it pulled out only a few. Now when you are dealing with the skin under your arms, it's a bit on the sensitive side so you don't get to try too many times so we could not keep going till we got it all. He had an idea that it was not getting warm enough so he got out the blow dryer. He warmed it for about 30 second, be careful here it gets really warm really fast and then let it cool down for a few seconds more before applying it. That worked so much better. He actually got about 3 times the amount of hair as he did the first time. It still missed a bunch of it but I had only let the hair grow out for about 5 days so that might have had something to do with it too. The second area we did was the bikini line and there it worked great.

All in all I have to say that this kit worked better than any of the other at home kits I have tried and was much neater than the rest too.

Update Posted on :

It may not seem like there are a lot of strips in this box and that it would last a long time for the price but surprisingly it goes pretty far.

These things are one of he least painful types of waxing-still hurts, though!!

I also happen to like Sally Hansen's hair removal products. They're very good and don't burn easily like most other products.

I thought it looked familiar. I've seen this in our bathroom. My mom uses it from time to time. It must work for her as well if she keeps getting it!
