This Samsung DVD Recorder should have been returned. We had it for a while before we even tried recording anything on it. I believe this was a complete waste of money. We wanted to be able to make DVDs from our Hi 8 camcorder. We have not had much success. The problem is that the recorder only accepts CD-R and CD-RW DVDs. It will not take CD+R or CD+RW DVDs. Even when I used the correct format, it was very picky and did not always work.
I finally gave up on this and we only use this as a DVD player. As a DVD player, it has been reliable. It is easy to use and even our kids can use the remote. No complaints there.
I have to say, if you are looking for a good DVD Recorder, you may not want to consider a Samsung. This model, anyway.

I have not tried Samsung. Too bad you had a bad experience from their product.
