While shopping for Christmas presents I came across this Sand & Water Play Set by American Plastic Toys Inc. I had seen similar sets that either feature water or sand play, but not both. The price seemed good, at under $10 dollars, so I picked it up to give to my nephew for Christmas.

The Sand & Water Play Set comes with a solid bottom play tray for the water and sand. You get a truck, two barges, and two speedboats. There are two crank devices. One moves the water, a "wave maker," and the other is a crane to move sand. There are also three water gates to hold off the water traffic once you get the waves running.

This toy is recommended for children 18 months and up. However, I think it may be better suited for 3 years and up. The sand and water combination can get very messy. Also operating the cranks can be cumbersome for littler ones.

I love that you can get so much play value out of this toy. Everything you need to spark a youngster's imagination is here save the water and the sand, which you must supply.
