Sandals Grande St. Lucia - amazing
By Clairdelune Na onIn january 2010, I went to the Sandals Grande St. Lucian in St. Lucia. This beautiful resort is located at about 90 minutes from the international airport in St. Lucia. It's a 18 years old and up resort and it's couple oriented. The resort is listed as a 5 star all inclusive resort and I would rate it as a 4 1/2 star only because the bathtub is old. The bathrooms need some renovations. But it was very clean. From the moment we arrived until the moment we were dropped at the airport at the end of our vacation, we were treated with so much respect. We were asked many times if we were enjoying our vacation, food etc... they asked us if they could do anything more to make our stay more enjoyable... I couldn't believe how nice they all were. I was very impressed by all of this. I would say that 99% of the staff always had a smile on their face. I
We had a Grande Deluxe room which is their standard room. It was very nice. We had a wonderful 4 poster king size bed, a 37 inch flat screen plasma TV, a small sofa and the refrigerator was stocked every day.
The resort has several restaurants and you can also access the restaurants in the other 2 Sandals on the island. The food was always very good (buffet and a la carte restaurants). Don't expect it to be fine cuisine though.
The beach... This is the only thing I was a bit disappointed with. It's a small beach. You can't take long walks. And there is a lot of rocks when you go into the water. But there is a small spot (about 50 feet) where you can go into the water without hurting your toes. There is no big waves since the resort is located in a bay.
There are 5 beautiful pools. There are several other facilities at the resort such as a spa, a fitness centre, a beauty salon, gift shops, internet center (expensive and slow), a jewelry store (expensive).
We saw many weddings while we were there. How romantic it must be.
I almost forgot, if you want some shades at the beach, you must get up early to reserve your spot. My boyfriend was dropping our towels on the chairs at 6h15am.
Me and my boyfriend met the hotel manager, Nicolas Medhat. What is funny is that he used to live in a town close to mine. It was very nice talking to him.
All in all, this is a wonderful all inclusive resort and I would recommand it. I think it's a little over priced though.

Wonderful photos! It looks and sounds like a great spot to vacation!
Yes, we really enjoyed our time there.
Very good review clairdelune! The photos are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
How lucky are the people living there!!
Wow! (Thats all I have to say!)
Wow those are beautiful pictures. Thank you so much for sharing this with us =)
Nice swimming pool
I hope we can make it here one day. My sister and her husband have been and really enjoyed it.
I hope you do janetlynn.. I am sure you will like it there.
We went for our honeymoon, didn't stay at the Grande but did visit there since Sandals lets you visit all 3 hotels there. I thought the grounds were beautiful but do agree, the beach was small. Still can't complain though, best trip we've taken so far!
