Sandals, Ocho Rios By mizdiz on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
We went to Sandals Ocho Rios and loved it. The ride over to the resort was kind of scary because they drive like maniacs, but once we were inside the resort, we felt it was worth fearing for our lives.
We went in January and the weather was absolutely beautiful. Our room was very nice, but it was on the ground floor. We left our bags and went to check out the grounds and when we came back we saw that there were ants all in our room. Even on the bed. I called the front desk and they sent someone to move our room. I only expected to go up a floor or two, but they took us to an ocean front room. I couldn't believe it. We didn't even make a big fuss about the ants. It was a very nice room.
There were so many activities there. We loved the beach party, dancing and doing the limbo. The Playmakers made our trip so special. I was able to go scuba diving on a resort certification and my husband went snorkeling. One of the Playmakers (staff) took us out on a sailboat. They also had a talent show, which was a lot of fun. The staff is not allowed to take a gratuity, but you would never know it. They all went out of their way to make sure we had a good time.
The food and beverages were all included. We found that the drinks were watered down, so we started asking them to double the alcohol and that made them perfect. My favorite drink there was called a "No Problem." The food was good, but not great. It was readily available at all times of the day. We could even travel to other Sandals resorts to eat. One night we went to Sandals Dunns River and ate dinner.
There were also excursions we could pay to do outside of the resort. We did two excursions and went shopping. The city was fun to venture out into, but it was run down. The resort is so much nicer.
This is a great all inclusive vacation for a couple looking for a getaway.
Sandals Ocho Rios

boo to ants, but yay for upgrades with no stink necessary! That is too funny about ordering doubles - What exactly is a "no problem"?
I have heard a lot of great things about these Sandals trips lately. I had always thought they would be a hoax. I guess not. This sounds pretty nice! Thanks for the information.
What a nice upgraded room you had! I've heard great things about Sandals!
Sounds like a great romantic getaway! Except for the ant of course!! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Watered down drinks, that stinks! Never heard of this specific Sandals, sounds nice though.
This sounds like a great place to stay. I'm not to sure about the watered down drinks....lol
Sound like you had fun and it was a great place to stay! I hope I get to go there someday.
