We signed a 1 year contract with Direct Tv. We got roped in with the low prices and plethra of channels we would receive. We switched to Direct Tv because we were told we would get a discount on our telephone services. Our services started out well.
We did get tons of channels and our bill was low. However it all went downhill shortly after. The satellite would go out with a high rain and even when it was sprinkling. Also we never received our discount on our telephone bill. Customer service was not very knowledgable or helpful.
The straw that broke the camels back is when they wanted us to pay a tech fee for someone to come out and look at our satellite because we were not receiving the local channels. Our one year was up and we disconnected services with Direct Tv.
I highly recommend NOT to go with Direct Tv. Dealing with outages and their customer service is a headache!

Oh thank you I thought it was just me! I had the same problem. They told me to go out and shovel my dish to get the snow off! Thanks for the information.
Did you ever get your discount back? I can't believe they wanted you to pay the tech's fees to come to your house-AARGH!!
We never did get our discount. It was impossible to get someone good to help us!
I hate Direct TV. If you hve fiberoptics in your area through Verizon or a local company go for that. It is so worth it.
Ahh yes this is the way it is with most of these services. Direct, Dish etc. be prepared to talk to them on the phone.
Thanks for the honest information. This is truly why I stay with cable. I have known many people who have had problems with this and other dish companies. I do feel for those who do not have cable access.

I think I will stick to my cable. I certainly don't want to be treated so poorly by customer service. Isn't it up to them to make sure you are getting channels? I don't understand why you were going to be charged a fee for something that wasn't your fault. Sorry you had such a bad experience.
