Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark By WreathofBarbs on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is a collection of short horror works from Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell. Now, a lot of people might remember this book from their childhood. Maybe for the stories, which are geared towards small children so that they might be scared and pass the scary stories to their friends over the campfire. Some might remember this series for that. However, the series truly shines in the artwork of Stephen Gammell. His wispy, grotesque style is well beyond the target age group, striking fear even into hardened adults. Anyone who read these books as a child would know exactly what I mean. While it may seem cruel to scare your children, these books are part of legend, if only for their artwork and should be enjoyed by every youngster. They'll thank you for it later.

I have all the books in this series. I've kept them from when I was little. These are great little stories.
