Scenic Salt Fork Golf Vacation
By Becky Knouff onI have lived in Southeastern Ohio all of my life.I use to live 6 miles from Salt Fork State Park. Now, I live about an hour away from it.
This is a beautiful place, and it is nessled in senic Guernsey County. It has a lake, a golf course, marina, and beautiful scenery which makes it a great place for a vacation.
One of the best features of Salt Fork State Park, apart from the lake, is its 18 hole championship golf course.A friend of mine, who is an avid golfer, took me there for three days of golfing several years before my legs quit working.
The par 71 course spans 250 acres of forestry, hills and open meadows making it a grand place. The course plays longer then would be expected because of uphill approach shots. This, also, adds to the challenge.
There is a pro shop, snack bar, driving range, and a putting green.
Tee times are flexible, and you usually can find one when you want one.
There are different Golf packages to meet your needs. We chose the 72 Holes in 72 Hours Package. This package includes four rounds (72 holes per person) of golf with cart.
This package offers lodging for three nights in one of the beautiful two bedroom, hillside cottages. These are beautiful and well maintained with maid service.(You could choose to stay in one of the king double rooms at the lodge.)
We brought our own food to save some money, but we did have one dinner at the lodge. The food there is excellent, and the service is great.(Meals at the lodge are not included in the package.)
The cost was $239 per person, based on double occupancy in a Two-Bedroom Hillside cottage. We went in October so we got a bit of a discount. We got lucky and the weather was perfect.it was just a tad chilly, but jacket made it comfortable.Prices vary slightly based on the time of year you decide to go.It really is a reasonable price to go golfing and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
In the evenings, after spending the day golfing, we would relax by the beautiful lake.
It was a grand experience. It was not my first time to Salt Fork State Park, but it was my first time playing on the golf course.I had always played on a smaller one closer to where I lived, but this was much better.
I know it was a trip close to home for me, but it was like disapearing into another place.Sometimes the best vacations are those which are closer to home.I had a lot of fun and enjoyed every minite of this golf vacation.

I haven't heard of this Ohio golf course. Living in Ohio ...it has some gorgeous places to play golf. I will look this one up.
Nice pictures. Salt Fork looks beautiful! People tend to get irritated at me when I "golf" though (I'm really not good...more of a par 3 type gal).
I don't golf, don't have the time, but this looks like a beautiful place.
I am not a golfer but I bet my husband would like it. I would probably just relax in the cottage myself :) Glad you had a very good time there.
Guernsey County is indeed beautiful! I'm no golfer, but have camped at Salt Fork. Did you know the North Country Trail goes through there? There is lots to do locally if you have a non-golfer along. (Well, not city kinds of stuff)
This is a reason that I should probably take up golf. It seems like the golf places are so beautiful. This sounds like a fun and relaxing time. Thanks for the great information.
Looks like it's a beautiful place. I will have to tell my husband about it.
I don't golf but I have been to many meetings at the Salt Fork Lodge. The whole park is simply amazing! Thanks for the review of the golf course!
