I should tell you first that I am a big fan of Jack Black- I usually enjoy both his comedy, and his talent as a musician.I was excited to see this movie because I thought it would showcase both of these, but I was a little disappointed.

The basic story of the movie School of Rock is a good one; Jack Black plays sort of a loser character who takes a job at a private school as a substitute teacher by pretending to be his best friend. He starts teaching his students what he knows best- rock music. He puts them into a band, and eventually gets them to perform a show. It's your basic Teacher Learns from Student while Student Learns from Teacher type movie.

I thought the premise was good, but it wasn't quite pulled off for me.The kids in this movie have talent; no doubting that.I just thought the storyline was a little slow, and found myself checking my watch through the movie because it felt like I had been watching forever. It was a great finale, though, and the kids were the stars of the film.

School of Rock is rated PG13, 109 minutes.Special features include commentaries, lessons learned in school of rock, kids video diary, music videos, mtv's diary of jack black, and extras.

Aww...I really liked this movie. Other than his hairstyle in it! ;-) The kids are really good musically, but not so much in acting.

As a music lover I really enjoyed this movie. It's awesome to see kids with musical talent like that. It's not one of Jack Black's best movies, but it is a good one in my mind.
