Sea Serpents By Sharon Lai on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

"Jack pointed to the cover of the book and said, ‘I wish we could go there'. The wind started to blow. The tree house started to spin. It spun faster and faster. Then everything was still. Absolutely still."

The Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborn has spiraled into an incredible series that not only teaches kids about history, but lets them see what it would be like to be in history. This series is a monolithic hit with young children, and there are over forty books in total.

In her next book, Mary Pope Osborn has added to her ever growing Merlin MIssions series where Jack and Annie are official librarians in Camerlot and they must save it from destruction through Merlin's Missions. Their current mission involves a deadly sea serpent (I won't give it away!). Jack learns to face his fears in his book. It doesn't have as much educational value as the normal series, but it's definitely more exciting for the youngsters!~
