Seneca Rock W Va By bubbacat on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Our lovely trip to West Virginia. Never again! We reserved a cabin "near the river" called the Smoke Hole Cabins. This was several years ago and I believe the cabins also have a pool now. The cabins were pretty new when we visited back then. The cabins at that time weren't too bad. It's the area! Although we opened the back door to the cabin and saw a dried up creek, nice view. They were located right off the main road. This area may be nice for campers and hiking but other than that I just was not impressed at all. There was one restaurant and it was old and the food was "eatable" and that's about it. We ate a bowl of chili at a store/cafe with two beans in the whole soup. We laughed about it! There are caverns to see...Seneca Rock (just a big rock)....Blackwater Falls (I didn't think much of it!). I was expecting this huge waterfall. It wasn't all that! A big disappointment! This area is like being in "nowheresville". I hated it. No shopping at all...What? No shopping! I'm a woman and I have needs....I like to shop not be bored. This trip is for the totally back to nature Daniel Boone type not me. The Blackwater Falls Lodge in the Canaan Valley had some really good food and I loved the deer coming up around the lodge so close. I disliked this area so much that we packed up and left at 4am in the morning. I couldn't wait to get out of there to civilization. Driving home, there wasn't a place to stop for miles. Again...Never Again!

Haha.. I'd probably love it... sounds very quiet and woodsy.
