Senseo Single Cup Coffee Maker By ally10169 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I love coffee! I have to start my day with it and often find myself wanting more later in the day. That was what prompted me to purchase the Senseo Single Cup Coffee Maker. I wanted something that I could use to quickly make myself just one more cup.
It is a very attractive, stylish coffee maker. It sits on the counter and doesn't take up too much room. It is tall but easily fits under the cabinets. There is a reservoir in the back that you remove to add water to. This sits on the back of the unit. It doesn't really click in and made me nervous at first that it would fall or not stay put but it does. It is just a sort of unusual design. The top opens and this is where you put the holder for the coffee pod. It comes with two, a one pod holder and a two pod holder. The pods are small. almost like little beanbags, full of coffee. Senseo makes different types and flavors including Cappachino which I have enjoyed. You put the pod in the holder and then you close the top. A cup goes on the plate under the spout and you turn it on. A light will blink on the front panel as it is preparing. Once the light glows solid you can click the one or two cup button. The unit then makes noise but it is not too loud or obnoxious. The coffee then comes out of the spout and you have a wonderful fresh cup of coffee.
I have tried a dark roast and the cappachino and enjoyed them both. The coffee is brewed with a wonderful frothy layer on the top, that is one thing I really like about this machine. I also like the convenience. If I just want one more cup or one at night it is so much easier than brewing a full pot of coffee. By having several flavors of pods it is also nice to offer guests their choice of flavors.
What I dislike about this machine is that the one cup is very skimpy. It is more like half a cup. When I brew just one cup it doesn't fill my mug to the top and that to me is disappointing. So I end up using another pod and making another cup just to fill it up.
All in all I would recommend the Senseo if you are looking for a Single Cup machine. It won't replace my standard coffee maker but it is nice to have on hand.
