Senseo Single Cup Coffee Maker By Mizdiz By mizdiz on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Senseo coffeemaker is a convenient way to make a single cup of coffee. I like this product, but don't love it. Definitely make sure this is not your only coffee maker. The first time I used it, it created a vacuum seal. I could not open it. The instructions say to wait 24 hours when this happens and try making your coffee again. Well, my vacuum seal never unsealed. I returned the Senseo and got another one.

I have made quite a few messes with my Senseo. There are two parts you must have in the Senseo to make your coffee. One is the pod holder and the other fits underneath the pod holder. Twice, we have forgotten to put that underneath piece in and coffee was all over the counter. Once, we did not have the lid just tight and the coffee ended up on the counter. Well, we learned our lesson and are now making mess free coffee.

It is easy to clean, with only 2 parts to clean; however, there is another single cup maker out there that has no cleanup. I have forgotten to take a used pod out and it is kind of gross when you come back to use it several days later and realize you left the pod in.

A disappointing feature of the Senseo is that a single pod is supposed to make 1 cup of coffee. It actually only makes 4 ounces. I don't know about you, but when I drink coffee, I usually like a 12 ounce cup. This can get quite expensive when buying those pods.

On the upside, my husband and I both like the flavor of the coffee. Especially the Paris flavor. The Senseo does make strong coffee. I find that if I do a single pod and hit the 2 cup button, then I use a single pod and hit the 1 cup button, then combine these, it is the perfect strength. It sounds like a lot of trouble, but it really isn't.

Because of the small cups the Senseo makes and the expense of the coffee pods, we will continue to use this product, but only if we want a quick cup of coffee and not when we have friend's over. With more than 2 people drinking coffee, it is much more economical to make a large pot of coffee, plus you don't have to worry about any vacuum seals.
