Sensuous Parfum By janetlynn on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My husband gave me this Estee Lauder Sensuous Gift Set for my birthday in April - he bought it at Dillard's. My friend had gotten some for Christmas last year and I really liked the woodsy undertones of the fragrance. She ended up giving me her purse spray and I used it every day, which of course didn't last too long. So when I got my own for my birthday, I was thrilled.
The scents inside are referred to as base, middle and top notes:
Molten Woods (not quite sure what THAT is)
Amber
Jasmine
Ghost Lily
Magnolia
Ylang
Black Pepper
Sandalwood
Honey
Mandarin Orange Pulp
I think the ylang, sandalwood and honey is what I notice most. The other scents are there and blend very well. I have smelled this fragrance on several friends who tried it and it smells a little differently on each of us, but still equally yummy.
The gift set retails for $95.00 in the department stores, but it normally goes on sale for around $75.00, which is what my husband paid. This gift set is normally available around Christmas and Mother's Day.
The only problem I have had is the bottle sprayer. I have used half of the cologne and the sprayer leaks sometimes. It's not that I don't mind having the fragrance on my fingers, but if I am going out to eat, that just doesn't sit well with me. So I have to wash it off very well.
I have previously been an Opium person, so again, the underlying "notes" of fragrances is what I think I like best.
It does have a slight sweet smell, which could be attributed to the honey and orange pulp, but then again - I think the Sandalwood. As far as the pepper goes - I had no clue it was in there and it definitely has not made me sneeze and neither has this bothered my sensitive allergies. Trust me, I have tried lots of colognes and perfumes that either make my eyes water, or irritate my throat or make me constantly sneeze. So I have to test before I buy and spend this kind of money or any money at all.
And if you work behind the fragrance counter, please be aware of who you spray with any cologne. I have had such bad reactions to women who come up and insist I "try" something but spray me before I can retreat and then I have to deal with washing it off and my allergies kicking into overdrive.
The gift set comes in a cardboard shiny copper looking box that includes: Eau de Parfum Spray 3.4 oz., Satin Body Lotion 2.5 oz. and a Silk Shower Creme 2.5 oz. that has a little shimmer to it.
I really love this scent and haven't deviated to my other colognes or perfumes so far. I just don't get tired of smelling it and it's not so overpowering that everyone around you will be coughing. People always ask what I have on and I always get complimented. The scent lasts all day long for me.
I still get compliments when I wear this cologne and since it's my favorite, I try to alternate between this and some others I wear - only because it's not cheap and I don't want to waste it. I know, that sounds silly but I really do love the ingredients and want it to last as long as possible. So I have also resorted to not wearing it much when I say home. If I see this show up at Sam's Club, that would be a blessing in the price break but so far, it's not there.
