We needed something small to protect some of our important documents and we decided upon the Sentry 1100 safe. Sentry is a well known and respected brand so this seemed like a good choice. Safes are not necessarily cheap, but we picked this particular one up at Walmart for $19.99. It is not particularly deep, but the size is more than adequate for fitting all of our paper documents in along with some other smaller valuables. The safe is suppose to be fireproof but fortunately I have never had to test this to make sure. The safe is a nice size for stowing away almost anywhere. It comes with a handle on the top so you can easily pull it out or move it around. As far as other protection goes I wouldn't think this would be something that would protect your items if you were to ever be robbed. The light weight and handle would make this something a robber could simple take with them. While the lock does keep the box secure, it is not impossible to open without the key. I know because I misplaced the key once and with some diligence and two paper clips I was able to open the safe. Overall this is a nice safe for storing documents and protecting them from fire or even keeping the kids out of them. I would however recommend something more elaborate and higher priced if you intend to store much jewelry, money, or other valuables. For our use of storing paper documents this safe works well though.
