I bought this safe to hold important documents in our office and to protect our electronic media in the event of a fire.
This safe weighs only 82 lbs., but can be bolted to the floor from the inside to prevent it from being stolen. The safe can hold .8 cubic ft. The Exterior measures 13 23/32"H x 16 11/32"W x 19 5/16"D, and the inside measures 9 5/8"H x 12 9/16"W x 11 1/2"D. There is a multi position slide out tray for added storage space, and a place to hang keys for easy access.
You may think that every safe will protect your electronic media, when in fact; it can be destroyed sooner in a fire than the paper items. You need to look at the rating for each safe to determine that it is safe for this type of protection. This model OS0407 will protect our CD's, DVD's, USB drives and memory sticks for up to 1-hr at 1700 degrees F.
There is added security of a dual locking system with a 3 number combination plus key lock. This comes with a 1 year Limited Warranty and Lifetime Warranty after fire replacement, including a limited reimbursement guarantee.
I have had this safe for a couple of years now with no problems with the locking mechanism. I haven't had the test of a fire, and hopefully never will. But I feel safer having the protection if it is ever needed.

I too had no idea that there are different temperature ratings on safes. Live and learn.
That's one hefty-looking security safe! I too did not know there were ratings on how much heat a safe can tolerate. I have a fire-resistant safe, but I'll bet it wouldn't be able to survive much heat. Maybe I should be looking for a replacement!

This sounds like a pretty nice safe. I love that this one can be bolted to the floor. That is a big plus. I really need a safe that will protect CDs and flash drives. Those are definitely my treasures. Thanks for the information.
