Sesame Street Finger Paint Bubble Bath By Tina Lehman on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I bought this set of bath paints for my daugther's bathtime. These paints are supposed to double for bubble bath, so I thought it would be especially fun for her.

PROS:

It was easy for me to squirt the paints on the side of the tub. They are thick enough to stay put without dripping too much, but is not too thick. They have a pleasant scent, and are really easy to wash off your tub and tile.

Using these, I help her review her colors, and have showed her how to make even more colors (making orange by mixing yellow and red). She also loves associating Cookie Monster with blue, Elmo with red, and Big Bird with yellow.

CONS:

They do not make bubbles, despite their claims, regardless of how much you agitate the water. After rinsing the paints into the tub, it stays in little clumps and does not break up easily. When they do dissolve a bit, they leave the water a weird gray color and a bit cloudy, which is a little disturbing.

OVERALL:

I would recommend these for your little one's bathtime. My daughter really loves painting with them. Do not purchase these to be a bubble bath, however.

You would think they might have tested the bubble part, eh? Sheesh!

Good to know these worked for you. I bought a similiar product and I was so very dissapointed!

we had these paints too. We also did not have any bubbles. My son wanted to squirt the paints himself and it was too hard for him. We did not enjoy them very much.

I am sorry it was a dissapointment, that is something that gets me about these companies is making false claims, and when it disspoints our children that makes it even worse :O(

I can see that my daughter would love painting with these in the tub but, boy, she loves bubbles too. Oh well.

My boys when young had this product and loved painting themselves and the tub with the great colors. But they hated the ugly bath water after. In fact Cam being autistic, refused after the first two times to go near the tub because of his tactile aversion to the feels of the clumps.

It's too bad these don't work as they should...they sound like a great idea. Turning the water gray is kind of...ewww! :-)

This was fun to read! What a major bummer that these do not make bubbles-that's half the fun to little ones! Thank you for sharing both the pros & cons!

I think the gray water might be a deal-breaker for me! I noticed that you had no problem with staining on your tub or tile. Just curious....was there any residue or discoloration on the caulking around your tub? (I had a disastrous previous experience with a similar product, and now I'm a bit gun-shy!)

Tina Lehman

I didn't notice discoloration, but am pretty sure we steered clear of the caulk.
