Shark Steam Mop By Kl Kwid By KLKwid on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I had a Shark Steam Cleaner before and it eventually broke (after years of use). I loved that thing-it did a great job cleaning my hard floors, but it was very awkward to use, with just a hose and a larger-type machine attached to it. I figured I'd give this mop a try-same brand, same quality, right? Wrong....

The concept is great-take the steam cleaning power of the original machine and make it more compact and easier to use in a mop form. The machine does produce steam and it will clean your floor eventually, but it takes quite a few passes over the same spot and a lot of arm power. The steam isn't as concentrated as the original machine and it doesn't produce as much steam, either. Again, this is kind of the concept, I know, but it doesn't help the cleaning power any.

The machine itself feels flimsy. I feel like every time I push it across the floor I'm going to break it in two. It hasn't broken yet, but I've been pretty careful with it so far. It doesn't hold much water and the cord is only long enough to do a medium sized room from one end to the other. The cord gets in the way, too-the design to keep it up and out of the way doesn't work too well.

Overall, I'll keep using it because the steam really does sanitize, but I'll recommend to others that it's not worth what they're charging for it right now-when it comes down to $25 or $30, maybe buy it then.

too bad it isn't as good as it could be.

I agree, the original asking price was too much
