Shenandoah Cabinetry By Nicole on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We purchased Maple Shenandoah kitchen cabinets in Maple Spice for our kitchen. They were to replace some older cabinets that were falling apart and had been painted over (badly). I was somewhat worried about the quality and how they would look as we didn't have a real model to look at when we ordered them from Lowes and they certainly weren't the most expensive cabinets to choose from. We had a cabinet door on display to judge and that was it. I was very pleasantly surprised when they came out of the box.

The drawers are dovetail and have slides that lock so my kids can't pull the drawers out on their toes. The wood itself is very hard. The smell of wood burning while pre-drilling holes filled the house and was actually a pleasant smell. It smelled a bit sweet, like maple I suppose. The cabinet finish is beautiful, even moreso than I had hoped. Rather than pay Lowes to install the cabinets, my father-in-law and husband installed them in two days (and that included tear out of all the old cabinets).

I understand you can only get Shenandoah cabinets exclusively at Lowe's. I would encourage anybody looking to remodel a kitchen, that does not have unlimited funds, to consider these cabinets. I finally got my new kitchen and we didn't have to spend an impossible amount of money to get a great looking, functional kitchen.
