I've never read any books by Sophie Kinsella before, so when I found this book, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, in a flea market, I bought it immediately. The regular price at Amazon.com is $6.99.

This chick-lit tells the story of Becky Bloomwood, a personal shopper at Barneys. She lives together with her boyfriend, Luke, in Manhattan. Since her best friend is engaged and getting married, she starts thinking about marriage herself. Luckily for her, finally Luke proposes. HUURAAAAHHH!!!

Then what's the problem? The problem is that two people are arranging her wedding party in TWO different places on the SAME day. Imagine that! And she doesn't have the guts to say no to both people. Who are they? One of them is her own mother, who's been dreaming about throwing Becky a wedding party in England. Another one is Luke's mother, a socialite who wants to throw a glam party for her son's wedding in Manhattan.

Becky doesn't want to disappoint both women, so she keeps postponing making a decision. Thus both wedding plans are being arranged. Will Becky be able to make a decision on time? Will she be able to have her dream wedding? Which wedding party will she choose? Will she be able to curb her shopaholic nature?

It'll all be revealed in the end and I must say that the ending was surpising. I have to salute the author for having found a GREAT solution to the aforementioned problem. The plot and the pace of this novel are good and it's SO MUCH FUN to read. You'll want to know the ending right away as the story goes along and you'll sigh happily and thankfully when the story comes to an end. What a crazy adventure in Becky's life!
